Lights, Cameras, Action: 25 New Automated Speed Enforcement Cameras Deployed in Toronto

Earlier this month, the City announced that 25 new Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras were being deployed to Community Safety Zones across Toronto, bringing the total number of cameras in-use to 75. Currently, each of the City's 25 wards has access to three cameras which are rotated to a new School Safety Zone several times per year.

The ASE program uses photo radar technology to identify vehicles that are travelling over the speed limit and then issue fines to the registered vehicle owner. Like many of you, I am very pleased to see the program continue growing. In July 2019, I moved a motion at City Council to establish a framework for the implementation of a comprehensive ASE program in Toronto.

In Ward 15 – Don Valley West, the newest ASE unit will be located at Harrison Road, near Vernham Avenue, in the Harrison Public School and Windfields Middle School Safety Zones. You can read more about the ASE program on the City's website, here
