On a rainy day in October, St. Anselm Catholic School invited the community to celebrate the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new playground installed over the summer. This project was the result of tremendous collaborative effort between the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), the local school community, and the City.

In 2015, school parents formed a committee to pursue this important project for the students. After years of hard work, the committee successfully took the project from idea to implementation. They developed the playground plan with input from students, staff, and parents alike, and held multiple events to secure the necessary funding to make this dream a reality.

In 2018, after Ward 15 was expanded to include the Leaside neighbourhood, Councillor Robinson worked closely with the school community to identify new resources that allowed the project to move forward. While the process to obtain this funding was complex, the result was completely worthwhile.

The new playground contributes to the vibrancy and livability of the St. Anselm community and will be enjoyed by the surrounding neighbourhood for years to come.

The hard work, dedication, and perseverance of this project team was an exemplary display of what a community can accomplish when they work together.
