Every Tree Counts: Toronto's Urban Tree Canopy

In Toronto, we're fortunate to have one of the densest urban tree canopies in the world. The City's 2018 Tree Canopy Study indicates that Toronto's canopy coverage has increased from 26.6-28% to 28-31% over the last decade, representing an increase from 10.2 to 11.5 million trees.

This year, I am pleased to advise that Parks, Forestry & Recreation are planting new trees and shrubs in the following areas of Ward 15 – Don Valley West:

  • Bayview – York Mills Parkette: 9 trees;

  • Charlotte Maher Park: 9 trees;

  • Dunlace Park: 16 trees;

  • Redpath Avenue Parkette: 6 trees; and

  • Beltline Trail – Moore Avenue: 135 trees and 525 shrubs.
